Door Paint Quantity Calculator

Door Paint Quantity Calculator

Work out how much paint or polish a door needs — both faces, edges and all your coats. Get the litres, cans to buy and an indicative cost with 18% GST. Indicative India 2026 — confirm the spread rate printed on the tin and check coverage on site.

Your doors

Hard gloss/satin finish; common for flush & panel doors. Paintable area per door ≈ 2.2 × one face (1.9 sqm) = 4.2 sqm — both faces, edges and a little for the frame rebate. Coverage ~13 sqm per litre per coat. Indicative India 2026 — varies by surface porosity, finish and wastage.

Get the finish right, not just the quantity

DesignAI suggests the right primer, finish and prep for your door material and climate — and sense-checks how much paint to buy.

Assumptions & notes

  • Paintable area per door ≈ 2.2 × one leaf face — this covers both faces, the four edges and a little for the frame rebate. Heavily carved or panelled doors need a bit more.
  • Coverage assumed ~12–14 sqm per litre per coat for smooth, primed surfaces. Bare, porous or rough timber drinks more — round up and keep a touch-up tin.
  • Paint is sold in 1 L tins here (also 0.5 L / 4 L), so litres are rounded up to whole cans — you will usually have some left over.
  • Costs are indicative India 2026 and shown including 18% GST on the paint. Brand, sheen and city change the price; primer is costed at ~₹280/L.
  • This is a planning aid, not a substitute for a painter or carpenter. If the door is warped, water-damaged or the old coat is flaking, prep (sanding, filling, a fresh primer) matters more than the topcoat — a carpenter may be needed first.
