India — architect compliance, city by city
India's building regulations are state subjects. Setbacks, FSI / FAR, and the governing authorities differ materially between Bengaluru's BBMP, Mumbai's MCGM, Delhi's DDA, Chennai's CMDA, and Hyderabad's HMDA. This atlas distils the working numbers and on-site enforcement gates per city — a practising architect's daily reference.

Building Setbacks
Front, side, and rear setback rules — the no-build margins between a building and its plot boundaries. The single most common cause of plan-sanction rejection in Indian residential approvals.
FAR / FSI
Floor Area Ratio (FAR) / Floor Space Index (FSI) — the maximum buildable floor area as a multiple of plot area. Sets the upper limit on building bulk; the lever every architect optimises.
