What it really takes to set up

A single clean guest room can be ready for ₹30,000–75,000; a comfortable room with air-conditioning and an upgraded bathroom is closer to ₹2 lakh, and a designer suite ₹4 lakh and up. For most homes the bigger swing is renovation — waterproofing, plumbing and electrical brought up to guest standard — and it's where budgets quietly overrun. Don't forget the un-glamorous lines that make or break the launch: a proper licence, genuinely good photographs (your listing lives or dies on them), and a working-capital reserve to carry the first slow months before reviews build. Set up for the guest you want, not the maximum you can cram in.
