This is an indicative planning estimate, NOT a compliant fire design or a statutory calculation. The real occupant load depends on the occupancy classification, building height, mixed uses and the AHJ — and assembly spaces with FIXED seating are counted by the number of seats instead of by area. A licensed fire consultant must confirm the classification and factor against NBC (SP 7:2026) / NBC Part 4 and design the egress, and the local fire officer / AHJ signs off. Getting this number wrong under-sizes the exits and can cost lives — verify everything.
