Gate & boom barrier

Gate Access Planner

A gate is only as good as its busiest ten minutes. Enter the traffic, the barrier cycle time, your lanes and the credential type to see the peak vehicles per hour, whether your lanes cope, the throughput per lane and how hard the gate is working. Planning figures; runs in your browser.

Credential
Manual / intercom adds ~15 s per vehicle; RFID and ANPR add none.

The maths
  • Effective cycle12 s
  • Throughput / lane300 veh/hr
  • Peak demand60 veh/hr

RFID and ANPR are far faster than a manual or intercom check at a busy gate. A dedicated exit lane and long-range readers cut queueing — and a queue must never back up onto a public road (see the local approvals).

Planning estimate only — the real cycle time depends on the barrier speed, the reader range and driver behaviour, and arrivals are bursty rather than even. Size for the peak, then trial it on site before committing.
