Data Centre Cooling Calculator

Estimate the cooling a data centre needs. Set the IT load and target PUE, and get the cooling in tons, the total facility power, and the annual cooling-overhead energy and cost.

100 kW

Total server/IT power draw — nearly all of it becomes heat.

Fine-tune PUE1.60

PUE = total facility power ÷ IT power. Lower is better; 1.0 is the ideal.

Annual cooling-overhead energy & cost

5,25,600 kWh/year of overhead (running 24/7). Every 0.1 off PUE is a real saving — which is why containment and efficiency matter.

A planning estimate. It assumes essentially all IT power becomes heat to be removed (1 TR = 3.517 kW), and derives facility power and overhead from PUE. Real design adds redundancy (N+1 or more), diversity, up-lift for future load, and detailed airflow/containment work — all specialist mission-critical engineering. Use this to frame the scale, not to size the plant.
