An NBC / IS fire system is not a single pump — it needs a set: a main electric pump, a standby diesel pump that runs if power fails, and a small jockey pump that holds pressure and stops frequent starts. Each pump must give the rated flow at the rated pressure per its pump curve.

This is an indicative planning estimate, not a compliant fire design or a statutory calculation. The actual pump duty depends on the occupancy classification, the building height, the hydraulic losses of your specific pipework and the AHJ. A licensed fire consultant must design the pump set — against NBC (SP 7:2026) / NBC Part 4 and the relevant IS code (e.g. IS 3844 for hydrants) — and the local fire officer / AHJ signs it off. A wrong pump can mean no water when it matters: verify every figure. Nothing here is a Fire-NOC-ready number.
