IP first digit — dust
- 5 — Dust-protected — limited dust, no harmful deposit
- 6 — Dust-tight — no dust ingress at all
IP second digit — water
- 4 — Splashing water from any direction
- 5 — Low-pressure water jets
- 6 — Powerful water jets (heavy monsoon, hose-down)
- 7 — Temporary immersion up to 1 m
IK — impact
- IK08 — ~5 J — a firm knock; standard outdoor
- IK10 — ~20 J — a hard deliberate blow; vandal-resistant
