Climate Flooring

Flooring for Your Climate

Pick your climate zone (or just your city), the room and what matters most — and get the floor that actually suits your weather. Coastal salt humbles solid wood; hot-dry summers love cool stone; cold hills want warmth underfoot. Tuned for Indian homes; costs are indicative ranges (material only, +GST and laying), 2026.

Your climate, in four steps

Coastal / humid (salty air): Coastal salt air and high humidity warp solid wood and rust steel fixings — waterproof tile, SPC and salt-tolerant stone win.

We score candidate materials, then apply climate gates — no solid wood in coastal or heavy-monsoon zones, cool stone favoured in hot-dry heat, warm wood/cork in cold hills, and anti-skid only in wet areas. Guidance, not a spec — confirm IS-marked grades (IS 15622 for vitrified, R10+ slip rating for wet floors) and ₹/sq ft with your vendor.

Best floor for Coastal / humid (salty air)

SPC / luxury vinyl (LVT)

Recommended because it is 100% waterproof rigid-core planks with wood looks — warm, quiet and dimensionally stable even in coastal humidity.

Indicative cost (material only)

+18% GST; laying, adhesive, grout and skirting extra.
