Perimeter beams

Perimeter Beam Calculator

Active infrared beam pairs draw an invisible tripwire along your boundary. Enter the perimeter length, the beam pair’s rated range, the corners and gates, and a weather derate to see how many beam pairs and towers guard the line — and the effective range once fog and monsoon are factored in. Planning figures; runs in your browser.

Eff. range
How the count builds up
  • Straight-run pairs (perimeter ÷ eff. range)3
  • Extra for corners (line-of-sight breaks)+ 4
  • Extra for gates (gaps in the run)+ 1
  • Total beam pairs8
Stack 2–4 beams per tower so a person cannot crawl under or climb over a single beam. Align each transmitter and receiver precisely, keep the beam path clear of foliage, and give every gate its own detection — a contact or a vehicle loop.

Planning estimate only — rated ranges are line-of-sight maxima that fog, rain and heat-haze cut down, and terrain, slopes and vegetation change what a single beam can actually cover. For life-safety or boundary-dispute lines, confirm the alignment on site and verify against the product datasheet and a site test.
