Sprinkler Coverage Calculator
Each sprinkler head protects a maximum floor area that shrinks as the fire hazard rises, and heads are also capped by a maximum spacing. Enter the protected area and spacing, pick the hazard class, and get an indicative head count. This is a coverage head-count only — an indicative planning estimate, not a hydraulic design. Runs in your browser.
- By coverage area (200 ÷ 12 m²)17 heads
- By spacing grid (200 ÷ 4×4 m)13 heads
- Take the larger17 heads
This is a coverage head-count only — an indicative planning estimate, not a compliant fire design or a statutory calculation. The hydraulic design (pipe sizing, the design density in mm/min over the area of operation, and the resulting pump & water demand) is separate and sets the real system. The actual requirement depends on occupancy classification, height and the AHJ. Keep heads clear of obstructions and beams. A licensed fire consultant must design the sprinkler system to IS 15105 and NBC (SP 7:2026) Part 4, and the local fire officer / AHJ signs off. A wrong number here can cost lives — verify everything.

The fire-water tank is the reserve that must always be full so the pumps, hydrants and sprinklers have water the moment a fire starts - what it is, how the reserve is ring-fenced, and why a dry tank is the deadliest failure in Indian buildings.

Does your building have enough exit width for its occupant load? Required width in 500 mm units versus what you provide, with the at-least-two-remote-exits check and a pass/fail. An indicative planning estimate; a fire consultant sizes exits to NBC and the AHJ approves.
Exit WidthEmergency Lighting Calculator
How many emergency luminaires light the escape route if the mains fails? Route length over the spacing plus open anti-panic coverage. A minimum count — you also need a fitting at each exit, stair and direction change. An indicative estimate; a consultant does the lux design.
