Security Installation Roadmap

Install in the right order. Tell us whether you’re building new or retrofitting an existing home, and what’s in scope, and we’ll sequence the work into four phases — Foundation (cabling, power, locks) first, then Detection, then Response & Access, then Commission & Handover. Doing it out of order means re-work (cabling after the walls are closed). Planning figures; runs in your browser.

Build type
new construction → lay conduits & cabling while the walls are open
Scope
intrusion detection, alarm & CCTV are always in the base roadmap

Phases
Retrofit
+ fire
1Phase 1Foundation
  1. 1Plan device locations & a simple cabling/power layout
  2. 2Provide power points & a small UPS for the security kit
  3. 3Upgrade the main-door lock & other external-door locks
2Phase 2Detection
  1. 1Fit door & window contact sensors
  2. 2Install CCTV cameras at entries & approaches + the recorder & storage
  3. 3Add motion sensors / security lighting
3Phase 3Response & Access
  1. 1Install the burglar alarm (panel, siren, keypad/app)
  2. 2Set up alerts / monitoring
  3. 3Have a licensed agency install & commission the fire detection/alarm (life-safety)
4Phase 4Commission & Handover
  1. 1Test every device & walk-test the alarm
  2. 2Label zones, set schedules & train the household
  3. 3Get the documentation, warranties & an AMC in place

Indicative sequencing only — this is a planning aid, not an installation spec. The right order saves money and re-work, but the actual scope, wiring and product choices depend on your site. Life-safety fire detection is installed and signed off by a licensed agency; verify the whole plan with your security professional and a site walk-through.

A home made safe isn’t built in a day — it’s built step by step, with care. Lay the foundation, add your eyes and ears, then your response, then hand it over well. A good plan is the first protection you give the people you love.
