In most occupancies a fire-safety AMC and dated, signed maintenance records are legally required, and life-safety equipment must be serviced by a licensed / competent agency — not by an untrained hand. Extinguisher refill and hydro-test dates are legally significant, so read them off the shell and honour them. The real intervals, records and responsibilities depend on your occupancy classification, building height and the AHJ — verify every cadence here against NBC (SP 7:2026) / NBC Part 4, the relevant IS codes and your state fire rules, and keep the physical log book that the local fire officer / AHJwill ask to see.
