Door Air Leakage Calculator

Door Air Leakage Calculator

Enter the door size, the gap / seal quality and how many external doors you have — and see the conditioned air that leaks out and the rupees it wastes each year, plus how good seals cut it. Indicative India 2026 bands — not a blower-door test.

Your doors

No gasket, visible daylight at the bottom and sides; biggest draughts. Crack length ≈ 6.3 m per door (perimeter of a 1.05 × 2.1 m leaf). Leakage and ₹ are indicative bands assuming ~1600 AC hours/yr and a split-AC COP of 3 — a real figure needs a blower-door / air-tightness test.

Seal the draughts, keep the cool

DesignAI can suggest the right weatherstripping, bottom seals and airtight door upgrades for your climate — and sense-check the payback.

Assumptions

Air leakage is estimated from crack length (door perimeter) × an indicative leakage coefficient per metre set by seal quality, at a typical wind-plus-stack operating pressure. The rupee figure assumes about 1600 air-conditioned hours a year, an enthalpy difference of ~18 kJ to re-condition each cubic metre of hot, humid outdoor air, a split-AC COP of 3, and your electricity tariff. The seal-retrofit budget (gaskets + a drop-down bottom seal) includes 18% GST; the energy figure is the metered electricity it wastes.

These are indicative estimates, not measurements — real infiltration depends on your home's pressure regime, door fit and weather. Confirm with a blower-door / air-tightness test and a qualified energy consultant; refer to Eco-Niwas Samhita (ENS) 2018 and ECBC 2017 for envelope air-tightness guidance.
