Automatic Door Operator Selector

Automatic Door Operator Selector

Tell us the door style, leaf weight & width, traffic and accessibility need — we'll recommend the right operator class, whether low-energy suffices, the required safety sensors and an indicative ₹ band. Indicative India 2026; confirm with an integrator.

Your door

Header track + belt drive; the workhorse for mall/retail entries. Office lobby, showroom. Climate-controlled; standard IP rating. Capacity is indicative per single standard-duty operator; heavy or wide leaves and high traffic may need a heavy-duty unit or a second operator.

Recommended operator

Standard sliding operator

ANSI A156.10 family — belt-driven header; full-power with mandatory presence/safety sensors.

Mid-point ≈ 1,70,805 · complete kit + sensors, fitted.

Use a full-power operator (faster open) — this leaf/traffic exceeds the low-energy envelope, so safety sensors are mandatory.

Required safety sensors

  • Header activation sensor (motion, both sides)
  • Presence/safety sensor in the door path (threshold)
  • Safety beam / side-screen guard against entrapment
Free egress & power-backup are non-negotiable. Any automatic door on an escape route must allow free manual egress and break out / open automatically on a fire-alarm signal per NBC fire-safety provisions. For India's power-cut reality, specify a battery/UPS that drives the door to a safe open position, or a fail-safe manual-release so people are never trapped. This selector is guidance only — final operator class, sensor layout and egress logic must be signed off by a qualified automatic-door integrator and the fire consultant.

How well each door style fits your leaf & traffic

Suitability score (0–100) for your leaf weight, width, traffic and location. Your selected style is highlighted. Higher means the leaf sits comfortably inside the operator's envelope.

DesignAI matches the operator class, sensor layout and budget to your door, traffic and accessibility brief — and flags the free-egress and power-backup requirements.

Assumptions

  • Operator capacity is modelled from leaf weight (kg) and width (mm) against a standard-duty single-operator envelope, then adjusted for traffic duty cycle and indoor/outdoor exposure.
  • Low-energy operators (ANSI A156.19 family) open slowly with no guarding sensors and suit light swing leaves at low/medium traffic. Full-power operators (ANSI A156.10 family) move faster and require presence/safety sensors.
  • Double-swing pairs need two operators plus sequencing; the cost band reflects that. Telescopic and bi-parting sliders are priced as complete kits with header and sensors.
  • Cost bands are indicative — get a quote from an automatic-door integrator/electrician; isolate power before any work. Bands include 18% GST; AMC typically runs ~8–15% of system cost per year. Prices vary by brand, opening width, finishes and city.
