Fire Door Checker

Fire Door Rating Checker

Pick your building type, the door's location and occupancy to see the likely minimum fire rating — 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes — plus whether a self-closer, fire-rated vision panel and certified frame are needed. Aligned to IS 3614 & NBC 2016 Part 4. Educational guidance only — never a substitute for your architect or Fire NOC.

FD

The door & its setting

Stricter compartmentation under NBC. Protects the escape lobby from a flat fire. Moderate occupant load. We take the strictest driver among building type and door location, then add a margin for high occupancy, and snap to the nearest standard IS 3614 rating. Confirm the binding value with your architect and the local Fire NOC / AHJ.

Required components

Self-closing device (overhead closer / spring hinges) A fire door must self-close & latch — propping it open defeats it.
Certified fire-rated frame + intumescent/smoke seals The leaf, frame, hinges and seals must be tested as one IS 3614 assembly.
Fire-rated glazed vision panel (not typically required here)
Certified hardware (hinges, latch, panic/exit device) On escape routes, an internal panic/exit device for fast single-action egress.

Standard IS 3614 ratings — your suggested minimum is highlighted.

This is educational guidance, not a compliance certificate. Actual fire-door ratings are fixed by the approved fire-safety scheme for your building, NBC 2016 Part 4, the relevant State Fire Service rules and your local Fire NOC authority (AHJ). Always confirm the rating, certification and installation with your project architect and the fire-safety consultant before ordering or fitting any door.
