Fire Door Compliance Checker

Fire Door Compliance Checker

Enter your measured leaf gaps and confirm the seals, self-closer, signage and a certified set — get a PASS / FAIL verdict against NBC 2016 and IS 3614, with every failing item listed.

Life-safety screening only. A fire door protects escape routes and saves lives — this tool is guidance, never a substitute for inspection by a qualified fire-door installer or competent person.

Components present?

Gaps should be measured with a feeler gauge along the leaf perimeter. A tested fire-door set (leaf + frame + intumescent + smoke seal + self-closer + fire-rated hinges) is certified as a whole — swapping any component can void the rating. Indicative against NBC 2016 / IS 3614.

FD30 compliance verdict

PASS

0%

9 of 9 checks pass · 0 fail

All screened items meet the FD30 requirement. Still arrange a documented inspection by a competent person and keep the certification on file.

Measured leaf gaps vs the 3mm target (red dashed line)

Threshold uses its own ≤10mm (or sealed) limit. Indicative — confirm on a certified survey.

Plan the fire-door remediation

DesignAI can prioritise the failing items, suggest the right seals and closer, and tell you what to ask the fire-door installer or competent person to certify.

How this check works & its limits

A fire door only protects escape routes when the whole set works as tested. The screen above applies the core requirements drawn from NBC 2016 (National Building Code of India, fire & life-safety provisions) and IS 3614 (metallic & non-metallic fire-check doors): perimeter leaf gaps of ≤3mm (4mm absolute maximum) at head and stiles; a threshold gap ≤8–10mm or bridged by an approved threshold / drop seal; a continuous intumescent seal plus a cold-smoke seal where smoke control is required; a working self-closing device; "Fire door keep shut" signage; and a tested, certified door set with its data sheet.

Assumptions: a single-leaf swing door with three or more fire-rated hinges; gaps measured with a feeler gauge; FD30 / FD60 leaf and frame matched to the certification. This is indicative — gap tolerances, smoke-seal requirements and signage vary by the specific test certificate, the building's fire strategy and the local fire NOC. Confirm with your carpenter / fitter on site and have a qualified fire-door installer or competent person carry out and document the inspection.

No prices are shown here; where fire-door supply, sealing or remediation is quoted separately, GST at 18% applies on the works. This is a guidance tool, not a substitute for a qualified fire-door inspection or your authority's fire approval.
