Door Sustainability Scorer

Door Sustainability Scorer

Toggle six green criteria — certified source, low-VOC, recycled content, durability, recyclability and local supply — to get a 0–100 sustainability score, a rating band and the biggest improvement levers. Indicative India 2026 framework; verify with a manufacturer EPD or green-building consultant.

Green criteria

Each criterion is weighted (certification and low-VOC carry the most). The score is a relative sustainability indicator, not a certification. Confirm every green claim with a manufacturer EPD / third-party label.

Biggest improvement levers

Unmet criteria, heaviest first — close these to raise the score the most.

  • 1

    Certified source +22 pts

Ask for FSC/PEFC chain-of-custody or a GreenPro / ECOMARK certificate, not just an IS 710 bonding stamp.

  • 2

Recycled / renewable content +16 pts

Choose rubberwood, bamboo, agri-fibre board or a recycled core; ask for the % recycled / renewable content.

  • 3

    Locally sourced +12 pts

Source the door and timber regionally to cut transport emissions and earn IGBC/GRIHA local-materials credit.

Spec a genuinely greener door

DesignAI matches a sustainable door material and certification to your climate, exposure and budget — and helps you verify the green claims so you avoid greenwashing.

How the score works & what it isn't

The score combines six weighted criteria into a 0–100 indicator: certified source (FSC/PEFC, GreenPro, ECOMARK) and low-VOC / low-formaldehyde (E1/E0/NAF) carry the most weight, followed by recycled or rapidly-renewable content, durability for the exposure, end-of-life recyclability and local sourcing. Weights and bands reflect Eco-Niwas Samhita 2018 and IGBC/GRIHA/LEED priorities.

This is an indicative self-assessment, not a certification or a life-cycle assessment. A high score is only as good as the evidence behind each claim — confirm with a manufacturer EPD / third-party label and, for green-building projects, a green-building or energy consultant decides the actual credits. Avoid relying on a single bonding stamp (e.g. IS 710) as proof of sustainability. Where a sustainable door costs a premium, remember GST is charged at 18% over the door price.
