Repair or replace? Ask DesignAI

DesignAI tells you which jobs to DIY, which need a carpenter, and whether the door is worth repairing or has crossed the replace-it line.

How this is costed. Each job carries an indicative parts/goods range (mid-point shown) plus carpenter labour billed by task size, with a one-time visit minimum (₹400–₹600) when any job uses a carpenter. Carpenter time runs ₹400–800 for a half-day and ₹800–1,500 for a full day; metros sit higher, tier-2 cities lower. 18% GST applies to goods (parts and consumables), not to labour.

Indicative only — confirm on site. Real prices vary by city, timber/hardware grade, access and the carpenter. Veneer/laminate patches, frame and rot repair, and sliding-roller work are not reliably DIY-safe and are always priced with a carpenter. If repairs add up to more than roughly half the cost of a new door — or the core is rotted, severely warped or delaminated — replacing is usually the better spend. These figures are guidance, not a quote; for structural, glass or automatic/electric doors call a professional and isolate the power first.
