Based on 20 trips/day at Bengaluru's ₹8.5/kWh tariff, an average drive draw of 2.8 kW and a mid-band speed of 0.65 m/s over 6.4 m of travel, plus a small daily standby allowance.

For G+2, 20 trips/day in Bengaluru. Your choice is highlighted.

Pneumatic vacuum (PVE) lifts draw the most because the blowers work hardest on the ascent. Traction (gearless MRL) is usually the most efficient — the counterweight does much of the work and regenerative drives recover energy on descent. Hydraulic and screw drives sit in between.

Standby and door-controller power runs around the clock; active ride energy is brief, so total monthly use stays small for typical homes.

How this estimate works

Active ride energy = average drive power x ride time, where ride time = travel height divided by the lift's mid-band speed. Travel height = floors x 3.2 m.

A small standby allowance (about 0.05 kWh/day per stop) covers controllers, lighting and door electronics. Monthly cost = total kWh x your city tariff.

Indicative June 2026 model. Real consumption depends on load, ride profile, idle behaviour and standby design.

About this tool

The real running cost of a home lift is usually modest — a few hundred rupees a month for typical use, because each ride draws power only briefly. This calculator uses an indicative June 2026 energy model (mid-band drive power and speed, a per-floor travel height of 3.2 m and a small standby allowance) applied to your city's domestic tariff. Treat every figure as a planning estimate, not a metered bill.
