The headsets in this course will be obsolete in a few years. The mindset will not. Spatial literacy is the durable skill - and it is what you take from here.
Everything specific in this course has a short shelf life. The devices named as illustrations, the exact specifications, the prices, the platforms, the apps, this year's excitement and this year's disappointment - all of it dates fast, some of it within a couple of years. If what you took from ten modules were the gadgets, you would have to start again with each new generation of hardware. But that is not what the course was ever about. Underneath the changing hardware sits an idea and a discipline that do not date, and learning those is what it means to become spatially literate.
This final lesson gathers the whole course into that enduring mindset. It is the computer leaving the flat screen to close the flatland gap between the 3D space we design and the flat media we have always designed it through. It is the family - VR, AR, MR, all under XR - held clear and distinct. The computer leaves the screen - closing the flatland gap

The family gives you the vocabulary to think precisely; the judgement gives you the wisdom to choose well. Together they mean a spatially literate designer is never dazzled into using immersion for its own sake and never dismisses it out of hand, but weighs each task on its merits, knowing exactly what VR, AR and MR each offer and exactly what the humble screen still does better. That habit, once built, applies to every future generation of the technology without needing to be relearned.
A tool for seeing and communicating, never a source of truth
The fourth thing to hold steady is the boundary that has run through every module and keeps a designer honest: spatial computing is a tool for seeing, understanding and communicating design in three dimensions - and it is emphatically not a source of truth. When a new generation of hardware arrives, you do not relearn what spatial computing is FOR; you simply update your sense of what is now affordable, comfortable and capable, and re-run the same earn-its-place judgement against it. That is how a durable skill survives a fast-moving field.
Keep learning, then, in the right register: by doing, on real projects, staying honest about what genuinely helped and what a screen did faster; and by watching the hardware evolve without being swept up in each wave of hype or gloom. Read the field critically. Try new capabilities on one real model. Keep the ledger honest - what earned its place, what did not, what still had to be verified elsewhere. A spatially literate designer treats every new device as a fresh instance of the same question, not a new religion to join or dismiss, and so is never left behind by change and never captured by it.
The closing charge is simple. You are not asked to become a headset technician or to bet your practice on the metaverse.
