The stack effect
Vertical ventilation driven by heat: hot air rises and escapes through a high opening while cooler air is drawn in low. It needs no wind — it runs on temperature alone — which makes it the most resilient form of natural cooling in an Indian summer.
Heat vents itself, no wind needed
A roshandan or clerestory above the door lets the hottest air self-vent at ceiling level. The stack effect keeps working when the power, and the fan, cut out.
