Karnataka Model Building (Amendment) Byelaws, 2026 — wastewater/STP and dual-plumbing mandates

Karnataka revised its 2017 Model Building Byelaws: buildings of 5,000–20,000 sq m must achieve 100% on-site wastewater treatment (STP/greywater), and those over 20,000 sq m require expert-certified STPs with metering and CPCB compliance. Dual plumbing for recycled water is now mandated — directly reshaping services design and plant-room planning for mid-to-large projects.

The 56th GST Council cut cement to 18% (effective 22 Sep 2025), with bricks/tiles/sand largely at 5%, trimming overall construction cost by roughly 3–3.5%. Make sure cost estimates and BOQs prepared in 2026 are on the revised rates.
