The quiet zone
A single defensible spot in a shared home where one person can withdraw — the child to focus, an elder to rest. Often carved by Subtract, placed where the long view doesn't cross. In a family flat, one protected quiet zone is worth more than another shared surface.
One place to withdraw
Removing a bulky cabinet can open a corner the sightline misses — a place to study while family life continues nearby. Designing for many means guaranteeing at least one place to be apart.
