Entrepreneurship Skills for Architects
Architecture school teaches you to design buildings; almost no one teaches you to run the business that designs them — yet most architects will one day own or lead a practice. This elective is that missing half of the degree: architecture as an enterprise. Learn the entrepreneurial mindset and why an architect is, at heart, a founder; how to plan a venture — the business plan, the SWOT, the feasibility, the start-up ecosystem; how to manage the money — pricing your services, costing, budgeting and cash flow, the things that quietly sink good design firms; how to find and keep clients through marketing, branding and networking; and the legal, ethical and leadership foundations — the firm's legal structure, contracts, intellectual property and how to lead a team. Written for the GATE/NPTEL framing of the syllabus and for the day you put your own name on the door.
