The Amogh × Studio Matrx Sustainable Architecture Annual Awards
An annual celebration of design that honours the land, the climate and the communities it serves. Instituted in memory of Amogh N P — architect, designer and musician — the awards recognise sustainable, contextually rooted architecture across India.

In memory of Amogh
His storyA rare few leave behind a vision that keeps growing in their absence. Amogh N P — architect, interior designer and musician — believed great design should serve the land and the people on it. These awards carry his name so that the work he loved keeps finding the light: buildings that are gentle on the earth and rooted in their place.

Questions, answered
The awards, in plain wordsWhat are these awards?
The Amogh × Studio Matrx Sustainable Architecture Annual Awards are an annual recognition of design that honours the land, the climate and the communities it serves. Instituted as a living tribute to Amogh N P, they celebrate sustainable, contextually rooted architecture across India — two awards each year, for an emerging and an established voice.
Who can take part?
The Student Award is open to students enrolled in architecture or allied design programmes in India. The Professional Award is open to practising architects and design professionals in India, for projects located in India. Entry is free.
Is there an entry fee?
No. Entry is completely free — Studio Matrx is a not-for-profit platform built as a tribute to Amogh N P.
Can I enter both awards, or more than one project?
One entry per person or practice, in one category, per year. Choose the Student or the Professional Award (not both), and submit your single strongest project.
When do entries open and close?
Entries open on 1 August and the last date is 30 September — every year. For 2026, shortlisting runs through October and winners are revealed at the ceremony on 7 November 2026.
What counts as 'sustainable'?
Work that reads its site and climate and gives back more than it takes — passive design (shade, ventilation, daylight, water), responsible and local materials, low embodied energy, and a genuine sensitivity to context and community. We value honest, rooted thinking over green gadgetry.
Does the project need to be built?
For the Professional Award, work may be built or in-progress. For the Student Award, academic, thesis or studio work is welcome — it need not be built.
What does each recipient receive?
The cash prize (₹50,000 for the Student Award, ₹30,000 for the Professional Award), an official Certificate of Honour, and a specially commissioned commemorative memento, presented at the ceremony. Prizes are paid by bank transfer on verification; applicable taxes (TDS) apply under Indian law.
Who owns my work?
You keep full copyright, always. Entering grants Studio Matrx a non-exclusive licence to publish your submission, with credit, to promote the awards and platform.
