Using climate data and future-weather projections to design buildings that stay comfortable, safe and efficient in a changing climate — designing for a changing climate (the weather file is out of date; climate versus weather; the landscape; the promise separated from the limits), why future weather matters (a building outlives its climate, the overheating problem, resilience and survivability), climate and weather data (weather files and TMY, sources of climate data, reading the data, data quality and uncertainty), climate projections and future weather (how projections work, emissions scenarios, morphing future weather files, the uncertainty of the future), climate analysis for design (climate analysis basics, degree-days and comfort, sun/wind/humidity, the climate study), simulating performance (building performance simulation, overheating analysis, energy under future weather, extreme-event analysis), designing for resilience (passive survivability, adaptive and robust design, cooling in a hotter world, flooding/wind/extremes), beyond the single building (urban heat and microclimate, the vulnerable and equity, adaptation versus mitigation, resilience at scale), making it real (the analysis workflow, tools and data, integrating into design, working with specialists), reality/limits/honesty (climate-washing, false precision, when the model misleads, adaptation is not enough), and practice and the future. Rigorous and honest — climate analytics is genuinely essential because a building outlives the climate it was designed for, but future projections carry deep uncertainty, false precision is a serious danger, a model is not reality, and adaptation must sit alongside mitigation — for architects, interior designers and students. Treats analysis and simulation as tools to understand risk and inform design under uncertainty (scenarios not forecasts), deferring the binding building-physics, energy, thermal-comfort, structural and climate-risk engineering and any compliance or life-safety determination to qualified engineers, verified data and validated tools and the governing codes (NBC India, ECBC, IS). India-aware, honest about deadly and worsening heat, humidity, monsoon flooding and a vast vulnerable population, with passive survivability treated as a life-safety issue.
