What you'll need
  • books
  • floating shelves
  • small sculpture
  • bookends
  • ceramic object

Style floating shelves so your books look curated rather than crammed. Mix vertical stacks with a few horizontal piles to create rhythm, and leave roughly a third of each shelf empty so the wall can breathe. Break up the spines with a small sculpture, a ceramic object and a pair of solid bookends. Pull a couple of books forward with covers facing out as accents. Group spines loosely by colour for a calm, collected feel. The negative space is what makes a study look considered, not cluttered. Switch between five decor palettes to see the whole scene re-skinned before you buy a thing.
